I See Me Oracle Volume 1 Meghan Ciana Doidge Books

This book is for youth reading. Well written. I wasn't impressed with the main character and I found this to be very wordy. Too descriptive and not enough story.

This novel has an excellent pull to it, and I am very impressed with the layering, complexities, and morals therein. Rochelle is the protagonist, and an interesting one. The writing is excellent, with great pacing, and leaves the reader engaged, wanting to know more. It is easily a recommendable series for people who enjoy an easy, exploratory read on the fantasy genre. I quite liked it, and will be completing the series.

As Always, I Wish Happy Reads to All from the Unapologetic Book Junkie 😉!
I enjoyed this book. This is the first I have read from this author and I found it creative in story line. The main character is strong in some areas or she wants to convince herself of that at least. She does grow in strength as the book evolves. I found the pack in Portland a little confusing but think if I read some of the earlier works I will understand this more. I did find it interesting enough to try the next book and maybe check out some of the other series.
Mental disorder or magic? An intriguing start to the Oracle series. I read the Dowser series numbers 1-3 (recommended order) before reading this. This book is the same world as the Dowser series with intersecting characters. It falls in the world/story timeline after Dowser series number 3. Main character is an orphan (a prerequisite for so many main characters). She is self-sufficient and determined. There is some sweet romance. A really enthralling inner struggle. Book does not end with a cliffhanger but does not feel resolved at the end either.
Dodge has done it again. Her stories just grab me and pull me into her world of dowsers, sorcerers, werewolves, witches, vampires, and now Oracles. It's just a magical immersion that leaves me craving....The rest of the story!

This book feeds upon her Dowser series, so, as she recommends herself, you should read it as a supplement or side story after Treasures, Demons and other Black Magic.
"I See Me" focuses on a new character, Rochelle, an orphan who doesn't know she has magical abilities, and Beau who is a loner that she meets on the road. The cast of characters from the Dowser series interact with the new, and the plots intersect enough that I think one might be a bit lost if this book is read as a stand alone.

If, perchance, you are a fan of the Dowser books, this is another excursion into Doidge's magical world and I would highly recommend reading this book. To those of you that are unfamiliar, I suggest you read both series.
Rochelle is a young woman who suffers seizures, resulting in vivid hallucinations. Her only recourse is to draw what she sees during these visions, thereby getting the unwanted thoughts out of her head. I spent the first 40% of this book thinking it was a drama, detailing the struggles of a woman's mental illness. But then... sharp left turn, buddy. Rochelle meets Beau, and she is dragged into a world of shape shifters, witches and magic.

The author had put a lot of effort into creating her characters, and it shows. Rochelle is a highly sympathetic protagonist, thrust into a world most people don't know exists. The story itself is solid, with a pace of action that may be slow at times, but the tale is always moving forward. This book is the first in the Oracle series, but intermingles with Doidge's other series, the Dowser saga.
.
A book targeting a young audience and lacking the complexity of character found in the Dowser series. The book progressed slowly with an emphasis on the herione's victim mentality. The characters were lightly drawn trite. The author seemed to be falling into the "tell instead of show" pitfall. Sadly lacking .
Having read the first three dowser books, it was fascinating to know more about what was going on than the protagonist did, but not in "it spoils the mystery" kind of way. I think the book could be read as a stand-alone, but it certainly has more texture and richness when reading it in sequence. The posturing among the characters was tiresome at times. Nevertheless, the premise and execution of the plot was wonderful. It was fun to follow Rochelle's journey of self-discovery. It was not as long as the previous novels and ended with a clear set-up for followup books, which I would welcome, but, overall, it was a quick, enjoyable read. It doesn't merit a full five stars, but, in the context of the series, it provides an alternate view of the series that is quite diverting.
This book is for youth reading. Well written. I wasn't impressed with the main character and I found this to be very wordy. Too descriptive and not enough story.
